Every mom is unique and special, but sometimes our Mother’s Day gifts don’t reflect that. While a card and flowers may be nice, perhaps this year we can try for a more personal approach. Here are some ideas for showing Mom how much we care:
1. Have an Adventure: Mom was there for our firsts; maybe we can turn the tables and be there for hers. You could treat her to a Segway tour of the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. Enjoy a drive together to Moab and have a river-rafting experience. Schedule a tour with Zipline Utah and watch as mom screams in delight as she soars through the sky. If you’re looking for an adventure that is less heart-pounding, maybe going to an exotic restaurant would be more her speed.
2. Take a Class: Mom helped you learn everything from tying your shoes to driving a car. Why not sign her up for a class that would interest her? Would she love to learn more about photography, Brazilian dance, gardening, soap-making, or harmonica? Check out the life long learning classes near you for something just perfect for Mom! You could even do the class together to create fun memories.
3. Make a Personalized Gift: There is only a week until Mother’s Day, but that is still enough time to come up with a personalized, crafty gift. Pinterest was designed for moments like these! Get some colorful washi tape and popsicle sticks, and make some picture frames for some cute photos. Maybe she’d like a Mommy Survival Kit or something else DIY. A Mother’s Day Photo Cube would be adorable. There is literally no end to the Mother’s Day projects you can find online!
4. Gratitude Journal: Buy or make a gratitude journal for your mom. Over the next week, spend time every day recording characteristics of your mom that fill you with gratitude. Include memories of things she has done for you that made you feel loved and special. Pass the book around to your siblings and even the grandkids, and have them record what they love about your mom.
